Summer Camp Activities

Want to know what your child will get the chance to do at summer camp? Take a look at all we offer!

Our Go-Karts are one of our most popular attractions here at Camp Joy El. Campers need to be at least 10 years old to do the driving. Younger campers will experience the thrill of riding alongside of a counselor.

The Climbing Tower

Another popular activity for summer campers is our climbing tower. Campers can climb to the top of a 25-foot tall tower as trained counselors handle the safety guide ropes. All campers wear a specially designed safety helmet.

The Swimming Pool

Those summer days filled with activity can get pretty hot, so a cool dip in our swimming pool is something our campers always look forward to. Trained, certified lifeguards are always on duty and counselors stay with their cabin groups to supervise.

Canoeing on Back Creek

Another great way our campers cool off is by taking a canoe ride down Back Creek. All campers wear the appropriate life vest and a counselor stays with the group in the canoe.

The Archery Range

Watch out, Robin Hood! A new generation of archers is taking over the range! Our campers love a chance to learn how to draw back a bow and shoot arrows at the targets on the range. This is not an adventure children will find at the local playground. Trained counselors teach campers how to hold the bow, draw the string and shoot an arrow.

Gymnasium

Indoor activities and games take place in our regulation size gymnasium. From basketball, volleyball and indoor floor hockey to indoor initiatives, campers have plenty of activity to enjoy in spite of the weather.

Mini-golf Course

A hole in one is lots of fun, and our campers can make plenty on our miniture golf course. Each hole is designed with a biblical theme and walks our campers through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

Making Crafts

Remember that clay bowl you made at camp when you were a kid and how your mom kept it for years? Some things about camp don't change. Campers enjoy being creative and messy. Time in the craft room gives our campers opportunity to be both. The results of a good day spent in arts and crafts could result in a masterpiece that will adorn your family room for years to come.

The Rifle Range

Campers who enjoy "hitting the mark" can choose to spend time on our rifle range doing some target shooting. Again, trained counselors are always present to instruct and supervise. Campers wear safety equipment to protect eyes and ears.

Low Ropes Challenge Course

Our low ropes challenge course is designed to teach campers the importance of teamwork and cooperation. Trained course instructors lead campers through a series of challenges while teaching important life lessons along the way.
